Reno has this new program they started last year. I can't remember what the name of it is, but basically you pay an increased fee and they take you out to the middle of the desert, close to the pylons where there is supposedly an excellent view and much better photo opportunity for picture taking. I think this would be better than anything in the grand stands.
Interesting. I didn't read anything about it on the site, but I will take another look.

I believe it was part of the "Checkered Flag club". Here is the link:
http://www.airrace.org/checkeredFlagClub.phpFrom reading it, it doesn't look like they are doing the deal where they take you out to the pylons anymore. I don't know, maybe it's a last minute thing. I don't remember hearing about that deal last year, until after the races were over. Keep checking the website, is all I can suggest.

How is the lighting for the grand stands. Are you looking into the sun all day? I have no idea what the layout of Reno is.
Here is the layout:
http://www.nevadadot.com/traveler/aviat ... df/4SD.pdfThe grandstands are on the ramp, facing North, parallel to Rwy 8/26. The sun should go from one side of you (East) to the other side of you (West), so you won't be looking into the sun all day.
