Just a couple weeks away. We have a good group of us planning on attending? I'll be there WED-SAT. Last year I ran into a few people from WIX but it was unplanned. Might we have a Sea Fury on the ramp to meet next to?

What aircraft are you looking forward to seeing? Hope to see Ray Dieckman's Bearcat and also hope that Ron Fagen's P-40 is finished in time. Should be a good showing of bombers this year as well...

Sounds like a couple of Corsairs to look forward to as well.
I'm shooting for the same days you are...

I'll be there on Wed. A Sea Fury sounds like an excellent meeting place.

Yup, one more month to OSH. Perhaps this thread could continue as an informational bulletin board for those planning to attend (or even just thinking about it).

Veteran airventurers (especially we locals) could provide helpful hints for first timers. Sometimes it's easy to assume that since information is displayed publicly, then all are familiar with it; and sometimes the format and schedule changes catch us old timers flat-footed.

For example:

In past years, EAA "planned" for the Sat. & Sun. warbird flying to be the most involved displays, but the last several years have seen an increasingly poor showing Sun. This year EAA has planned for Friday and Saturday to be the most involved shows. Effect?

Thursday has no warbird flying display scheduled (Again, I realize this information is posted elsewhere. I just don't want to assume all have seen it).

Glad to help where I can,

Another Dan

I also hope that any and all WIX'ers attending Air Venture, can get together, for a photo. I'll be there from monday the 25th until monday the 1st of Aug. In the first few days, I can be found in the Warbird Judges area, usually running around in a jeep taking pictures., blue shirt and straw hat. Best place for group photo is in front of the WARBIRD briefing building by the flagpole. With any luck, I will have just returned from Duxford, with photos of the WIX'ers in attendance there.

Unfortunately I will not be at OSH this year, as I have a family commitment that same week. However, there should be a certain blue Skyraider there from St. Louis, flown by a couple of WIXers.

Of course you can always meet next to Mike Keenum's Sea Fury "Riff Raff", or Dennis Sander's Sea Fury "Argonaut", or Sandy Thompson's Sea Fury "Plain Brown Wrapper". They were all there last year.

We are bringing a 1950 Dassault MD 312 Flamant from France, with afleet of french planes. If the MD 312 makes it, it will be on the west ramp. So far so good, we reached Reykjavik. Crossing Greenland from east to west today…

When is ther stop in Plattsburgh planned? Is it just a quick Customs check (not that quick is a good term to apply)? Are you going to be in that area long?

Dan...I hate to dash your hope but unfortunately Ron's P-40 is a long ways from being ready to fly. Could be an award winner next year!

Thanks John... I was reviewing with a friend last night about some of the Warbirds we hope to see. Some not quite finished in time. Also sounds like a few new restorations might be staying away this year thinking that Glacier Girl will take the top awards!

If I may suggest Area 51, since then I can make it... and if Ron isn't bringing his (unfinished) P40, perhaps his shiny P51 will be there... (okay, so normally I just 'lurk')
