I posted on the Maintenance portion but I figured that I would try here as well. I am looking for more information on the Fiesler F2 Tiger. This was a taper wing, single seat aerobatic biplane designed and flown by Gerhard Fiesler, WW1 fighter ace and if not designer then producer of the Fi 156 Storch.

The F2 was powered by a 450 HP radial engine and Fiesler used it to win the first world aerobatic championship in 1934. He also invented the rolling circle. So far I have only found a few scant references and photos on the web or in books. I would like to know how many were built and whether there are any survivors or surviving components.

There are pictures of him flying the Tiger on U Tube. Don't know if you can glean any more info from there.

Hello John,

That's a nice plane you picked! The Fieseler Fi 2 had a lot in common with the more famous (wel, atleast in western europe at the time) Raab Katzenstein stunt planes. the Fieseler Fi 1 was apparently basicaly a rebuilt Raab Katzenstein.

The Fi 2 was a one of plane; besides the one flown by Fieseler there were no other built. Apparently it was a bit of a dog to fly; a very heavy and overbuilt plane. The engine was a Walter Pollux, delivering 360 to 420 hp. as fas as I kn ow there are no surviving planes or even parts. I do have some more info; some pictures and article and a good drawing of the plane that also shows some of the internal construction, let me know if you are interested in this.

Regards,
Roel
