9th AAF, 363rd Fighter Group, 382nd Fighter Squadron photos

Fri Feb 26, 2010 6:44 pm

Hello fellow WIXers,
My name is Jason Schillereff and I’m the grandson of Maj. Raymond Schillereff who flew with the 9th AAF, 363rd Fighter Group, 382nd Fighter Squadron, I recently acquired many photos from a relative and thought I would share with everyone. I’m looking for any other photos of my grandfather that may be floating around and I thought this would be the perfect place to look. I have the Kent D. Miller book “The 363rd Fighter Group in World War II, in action over Europe with the P-51 Mustang” and it helped immensely with the identification of most of the pilots, planes and their missions, so enjoy and hopefully there are more photos out there.
*Note* each image has the person’s name and info, if it's not showing up try my photobucket page http://s188.photobucket.com/albums/z74/ ... ce%20WWII/

Sweet Mary mother of Jeezus!!! Man, you really know how to make an entrance, don't you? :) You just sorta moseyed on in here and dropped a whole friggin' truckload of AWESOME right in the middle of the board!

This is some truly excellent stuff, Jason, and I appreciate not just all the fabulous Mustang shots, but the "glamour shots" of the pilots as well... every one of those pics is just incredible.

Thank you so much for sharing these with us, and welcome aboard!

Cheers,

Lynn

You don't see as much Ninth Air Force stuff compared to the Eighth.
These are great photos, thanks for sharing them with us.
:D

Jason Welcome to WIX. I can guarantee that no one is happier to see your post than me!
My father was 1st LT Charles F. Stuart, of the 381st of the 363rd. His airplane code was B3 E, "Stinky"
You are fortunate to have all those photos & things, take care of them. I only have a few photos of my Dad from Europe, & only one of him with his plane. Man what I would give to find more photos of him.
Thanks so much for sharing those with us.
Best Regards
Robbie 8)

How many air to air victories is Major Schillereff credited with?

A fascinating collection of photos, Jason. Thanks heaps for sharing.

Interesting to see the bombs on Odell's aircraft painted the 'wrong' way.

1Lt Gordon Reeves was from Salem anded lived close by on W. Nob Hill St.
His P-51B was "Printer's Devil" coded C3+__. I've always loved the outline of Oregon

Hey guys I’m glad you like them. Nice photo Robbie, thanks for sharing and I know what you mean about wishing you had more. Michael, from what I’ve been told by my father & uncle’s was that he had 4 confirmed kills and one that wasn’t, so that kept him from officially becoming an ace. Hey Jack thanks for the info!! I was hoping you would drop in on this thread, with all your great historical photos and knowledge, I was wondering if you would’ve had any to add. Jarink1, the Ninth was definitely not glorified as much as the Eighth and per the book the 363rd earned a negative reputation due to their low victory to loss ratio (approximately 1:1).
