I had a chance to go see Liberty Belle in Houston today making it my 5th B17 so far. Also have been thru 909, Chuckie, Texas Raiders, and Thunderbird. While there got to see a nice Stearman and an unexpected visitor, Rick Perry-Texas Governor.Liberty Belle scheduled to be in San Diego next weekend. Don't know why, but my pictures loaded backwards and I'm too tired to try again.

The governor is a former USAF C-130 pilot and his Dad was a B-17 crewmember. The Lt Gov David Dewhurst's Dad flew Marauders and was KIA in Europe.

The Governor flew right seat on Witchcraft last year when we were in Austin.

Liberty Bell was supposed to be at Hooks Saturday and Sunday. I understand it was only there for Sunday.

Wow, that is one great looking Stearman! :D

Liberty Belle's looking sharp as always. I flew with them last year when they were operating out of the Cavanaugh Flight Museum at ADS. One of my co-workers traveled down to Houston to fly with them this weekend. It was to be his first B-17 ride, and I'm looking forward to hearing about his experience. I see that Liberty Belle also carries the very important spare tailwheel and tire. We have Chuckie's spare hanging from a bomb rack in the bomb bay!

Does anyone know if Governor Perry is currently an active private pilot? Just curious. :?:

Sorry about Liberty Belle not being there on Saturday! We had a last minute maintenance problem with a leaking #3 main fuel tank while it was still here in Georgia. We finally got it fixed Friday evening and it left here early Sunday morning.

I think most warbird fanatics understand that if she needed fixing, she needed fixing. That happens. Better safe than sorry. I was happy to see her in Tampa last year. Sweet!

Thanks for the photos! Must be nice to see warbirds flying this time of year... All this snow gets depressing. I can't wait for summer.

Was that Liberty Belle that came through ELP this afternoon? As always it was great to see a B-17 in the air!

Yup, ELP, then TUS for an overnight, then onto Gillespie...it's interesting that FlightTracker did not show my flight from TUS to SEE.
