This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Rumor on the ramp is that, perhaps even as I type this, the other flying P-39 may be on a ship, headed for Houston, then to her new home in the San Antonio area!!!

Well, I had it on very good authority that it was a fact, but I thought it would be more fun to report it as a rumor, since I didn't know if it was a secret or not. I'm glad you found and posted the link with the photos of her being shipped! Now I know I'm not spilling the beans!

I thought this was reported here some months ago? Or maybe in Classic Wings????

Mike,
No problem!
BTW, the P-39 will arrive to Houston seaport on 24 Feb 2010.

Yeah, it was reported that it was coming to Texas, but then nothing happened for so long...
At least now we know she's on the way, and just a few miles at sea from the Port of Houston!
Where is she going to be put back together? Anyone know? I guess she'll stay in her container until she gets to her new home.
Can't wait to get the two Airacobra's together for a formation family reunion photo!
Maybe soon we'll have the King Cobra ready to join them as well. That would be neat, -63F in the lead with -39 wingmen!

I don't see why everyone thinks this is so secret. It's well known that Rod Lewis bought the P-39.

Seconded. It's been put out there in several ways. Even so, IMHO there's nothng wrong if aircraft change hands privately. It should be the owners choice. I am happy Texas is continuing to be the mecca of warbirds! How many P-39/63s are currently flying in N. America? Cobra gathering?
