Ralph Randolph is building theme bikes to honor American aircraft from World War II. He started with the P-51 Gun Fighter. He is now in the process of completing the B-17 Sentimental Journey. They are filming the builds. There are webisodes of the builds on the website. They are trying to get the series picked up by one of the networks. Take a look and become a fan!

I don't remember which thread it was, but I had posted about this right after Airsho '09. Someone then found that link and included it in the thread. The Yellow Rose is to be his third "Warbike". They shot a lot of video in and around both the Sentimental Journey B-17 and the Yellow Rose B-25, and interviewed crem members of both about the planes.

The video crew told me that they were shooting on speculation, in hopes of being able to sell the show to one of the cable networks. Hopefully they will have plenty of footage of the planes included in the show!

I just checked the site out again, they have updated it and added to it since I first looked at it last fall. If you look at the photo gallery, second page, there is a shot of the Yellow Rose's nose. The photo was taken during a ride for hire flight, with Ron Dietes in the left seat and Calvin Allen in the right. It's hard to tell who's in the right seat, since Calvin and I both were wearing our OD bags and the tan CAF Airsho caps, and the face is in the shadows. However, I flew right seat for the show and photo flight, Calvin flew right seat for the rides, and I know it isn't me in the seat because that's me walking in front of the Rose, almost out of the frame on the right edge!

That's good information Mike. I've been working really close with Ralph. They will have plenty of footage of Sentimental Journey. Ralph's Bike shop is in Mesa, and Journey is at Falcon Field. They are going ahead with the Sentimental Journey Bike as we speak, and filming is on track as well. Going to check out the bike progress today. I haven't heard that Yellow Rose would be the next bike though? Keep checking the website!

Hey Scott!

It was my understanding at the time of the Airsho that the Rose was going to be the third bike he did. Can you ask if that's still the case the next time you get the chance?

They were a really great crew to work with, and I gave the boom camera operator some tips on where to position to get some good shots as the Rose taxied in. I was watching the monitor, and he was an excellent videographer. I think the show has some fantastic potential, and will be able to draw viewers from both a custom motorcycle and warbird fan base.
