Man, I need to fire up my scanner and get some of my shots posted from the boat.

I remember one night while in the Gulf we had to update the computers on one of our hornets. It was during flight ops and a little over 100 degrees on deck. We were just behind EL-3 and we started the update. the scheduled launch started and the Tomcats were up. It got so hot where we were it felt like our skin was on fire. So after the second or third aircraft left cat 3 and 4 our yellow gear that loaded the software overheated and died. So we stood there kicking it and swearing at it for several minutes before we gave up and went back to the shop. We had to call Maintenance Control and tell them that the aircraft was down because it did not have any software loaded into the Mission Computers. After flight ops we went back up and were able to load it with very little problems (getting and keeping power on an aircraft for any length of time was always a problem). I remember that day like yesterday. I remember thinking I'd have been better off standing right behind the JBD'd verses were I was, which was right next to the nose gear. Fun times
