A friend passed this link to me. P-51s and life on Iwo Jima. What look like official photos, some previously circulated, some not. A handful of closeups for the stencil crowd.

Enjoy.

Hi Jack,

Lt. Ceil Dennis is one of my buddies and frequently hangs out with us at the Warhawk Air Museum! He's a great man and a real treasure to us!

That is a terrific photo of him at Iwo.

wow they are wonderful photos and clear too! Does anyone know what caused the Mustang/B29 pileup? Looks like the Mustang's prop wasn't turning but the B29's were!

That B-29 was on an emergency landing at Iwo when things went wrong.

The photo album is one of Mark Stevens who runs www.7thfigher.com. He's got some great research and resources for anyone interested in Pacific Mustangs.

Outstanding set of photos! I really enjoy looking at anything related to Iwo. Is it me or does the first photo of Gen Ernest Moore look just like Humphrey Bogart?

Sorry about that. That's what comes from typing when you've just gotten back from a 12 hour day... For the record it's www.7thfighter.com and I do know how to spell when I'm not in a stupid tired rush.

IIRC, I heard that the last surviving Japanese didn't come out of their cave on Iwo until some time in the 1950s!

I have spoken to Jerry Yellin on the phone.., he was coordinating the construction of a memorial in Japan for two B-29s from the 314th BW that collided over a city (forget which one) on a mission

Sorry if this is a repeat - but someone else sent me this link. I almost deleted it ... assuming it was the same as previously posted above. Although there are some repeat photos, there are a number of new ones. Mustang and Superfort fans hang on!
