Yes, it is.

I unfortunately don't know anything about it! It's something we spied while driving past the hangar. Very nice workmanship on it!

How about this- today, 1:30 pm. CST I was outside and heard what sounded like a cross between a big helo and a big tractor with a bad muffler. I spotted the helo coming past my house, real low too, and got a real clear look at a Russian Mil-8! I live about an hour WNW of Houston and we're on the military flight path between Ft. Hood in Killeen and Ellington AFB in Houston. We see Blackhawks and Apaches frequently, Hueys and Cobras once in a while and the occaisional Sugar Hook. This was something else! I got a clear look and then went straight to a reference book and verified it. OD green and no markings except maybe a serial #.
Any of you Houston WIXers spot this thing?

Well this is a weird one...
I live directly under the pattern at Plant 42, was over at my neighbors place earlier today & we both clearly heard *something* take off going like a bat outta hell. VERY loud, clear blue sky, the pair of us standing there scanning the sky & neither of us saw a darn thing. It went RIGHT over us  It's pretty much open desert from our front yards to the end of the runway so it wasn't obscured by any buildings... WTF???

A friend reported that he saw a B-17 depart Austin Bergstrom today. Also possibly an orange and white T-6. Anybody know which -17 it was?

Good timing Rick! I saw WB-57 landing and about 15 minutes later after I renewed my drivers license, I saw the Huey landing. :D

And then a T-38 landing as well.
