This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

The thread on polar bear got me wondering... what's going on with all the A model mustang efforts that Gerry Beck had?
Is there someone out there who could tell us about how that project came to be started, the work to get a plane up flying (restored? new build?) and what the future holds? I would be very interested in hearing some about the efforts it took to fabricate parts, research etc.
Are airplane kits available a la Flugwerk or will they ever be?
Here's hoping for a multi-page thread with lots of pictures!

I flew into Falcon field with a friend yesterday and while talking "Warbirds" on the ramp major happenings at Tri State Aviation were mentioned.
I am surprised that the story hasn't made the WIX headlines yet. I would imagine, if what I heard is true, word will be out soon. It would certainly be a great thing for keeping the incredible Midwest Warbird shops thriving.
The P-51A program IMHO is the most interesting and intriguing opportunity out there, I believe that the program could thrive. Now only if I could afford one!
I always enjoyed seeking out both Gerry, Bob O., and their crowd each year at Oshkosh, you just can't beat that Midwestern spirit and charm.

What you heard was true. I'll let the key players elaborate on the details if and when they wish. I will say that it is a very positive move...I can see no down side.
The A model program will move forward however under a slightly different arrangement than before. In fact, they are putting Gerry's A model back together as we speak.

Where did my original post go??
Anyway, I heard a few things from one of my employees who used to work at Odegard Wing, and it sounds pretty promising.

Nothing like a lot of non-specific secrecy! Not the best way to try and sell airplanes IMHO.

Well I hope one of the key players would step up soon and let us know what the plan is! Im dying over here!
