Hey guys! Thanks for your support of the Palm Springs Air Museum :) Just wanted to let everyone know that our new (well, old, but new to us) Stearman flew in today. Everyone needs to come by and check it out! Also, we are still awaiting on the arrival of our new (again, old, but new to us) PV-2 Harpoon. Continue to check the fan page for updates...

Hmmm.... PV-2! Which one? Sounds like a good home and if the museum owns it, it may fly periodically.

Maybe one of our esteemed WIXers close to the situation can comment further?

Pretty sure it's the one that's currently sitting in front of Air Response's (Packard's) hangar at Falcon Field here in Mesa... it was being readied for a ferry flight at last I saw of it a few weeks ago and PSP was where it was headed from what I heard. It's an old sprayer and will need some TLC before it resembles it's warrior-self... but it's a start for sure! I believe it was donated... and I want to say it was owned by Weeks at one point... and I seem to remember Aero Trader being a part of it as well.

It's Kermit's, they tried bringing it out a couple weeks ago but had an oil leak? No ETA on it yet. Very good catch BDK. I think it will eventually be painted similar to the PBY, Aleutian style scheme.

They are doing what they can, with what they have. That will make #8 in their control... Of course people could donate a few bucks for some parts
C-47 #1 engine needs to be changed
PBY Needs to finish having fire bomber stuff removed, and being rewired
P-63 Good to go
Stearman Good to go
Cub Good to go but being painted in L-4 markings
PV-2 Needs interior
T-33 Good to go
Mustang Needs IRAN or heavy D check

With regard to the PV-2...had the opportunity to help fly the aircraft to it's new home. After take off, the left engine was smoking pretty good, so we just came back and landed. Turns out a couple push-rod tubes were leaking pretty good and blowing oil back on the exhaust....great smoke system! Billy has got it under cntrol and we'll get back out there to get it to it's new home asap ad when the weather cooperates.
By the way...those engines run smooth and strong!! They still are a bit finikey to start. All and all...nice start to a great project ...but I'm partial. :D

I doubt it, they flat refused to bring their F7F to join the other 3 flyers at Chino last year..

Ummmm..... yeah......

The museum can not fly the F7F due to the conditions of the trust it is set up in along with the rest of Bob Ponds aircraft That airplane would have been there if the museum had control of it. Trust me, the museum loves bringing stuff to Chino. See previous post for aircraft that are controlled by the museum itself.
