Thanks JDK! (And a shameless book plug!)

Fri Jan 15, 2010 9:39 am

Just wanted to give our own JDK a shout out saying thanks!
I just got my copy of this book: ALLIED ROTORCRAFT OF THE WW2 PERIOD in the mail! If you look at the front cover, you might figure out why (there's an L-bird there) I was interested in the Sikorsky R-4 to begin with!

Again, THANKS!

Ryan

G'day Ryan,
Thanks for the plug, and more importantly, thanks for the help with photos. For those who may be interested, this is a solid work covering the remarkably varied range of W.W.II allied rotorcraft (helicopters and autogiros). It's effectively a companion work to the same author's Rotorcraft of The III Reich. Author Ryszard Witkowski is an experienced helicopter pilot, and undertook a great deal of firsthand research and corresponded with numerous pioneers in the field.

Although I was familiar with this area, in both books I found quite a lot I didn't know, and some of the experiments and byways were fascinating.

Obviously I'd recommend them, but then we are in the book publishing business to get stuff published to share!
