I find it humorous when people ignore/avoid the humor in your posts! All in fun, after all, that's what we are here for. If the WIX wasn't fun, Bill would probably be surfing the internet dating sites instead!

Boone--near Ames. How bout that victory last night!? Fun fact: Bill stopped at our FBO once in 308WK for fuel on the way to OSH. There was a picture of him hanging there long before I ever met him in person or knew who he was...small world!

I think going to POF on your honeymoon is a wonderful idea. It's important to set expectations properly right from the start. Most people start off with that whole beach front resort thing and it goes downhill from there. Going to POF first will make sure she knows that this journey will probably be filled with dust and snakes, and will put you on a proper footing immediately. Letting her know that if she sets her expectations low enough, you will only disappoint her some of the time, will make for a long lasting relationship.

Just call me Dr Phil (warbird ward)

BTW, the best Piano Bar in Vegas is in the Paris Casino, Napoleons. http://www.parislasvegas.com/casinos/pa ... tail.shtml

I visited both Planes of Fame and Yank's about three years ago. If I had to offer a one-word description, it would be "WOW!". Going to Chino was one of the highlights of my "warbird life". For decades, I had read about Chino and all of the warbird activity there, so it was a very special day for me. My wife was in an all-day business meeting in some town west of L.A. somewhere along I-10 (I forget the name; it's not important), so I was free to spend as much time at Chino as I wanted (yee-ha! :D ). I was wearing my VFM uniform shirt and ID badge, as I always do when I visit other museums. The folks at POF welcomed me like I was a personal friend! I got the "grand tour" of the restoration shops, got introduced to some of the restorers, and so on. One of the fellows working in the restoration shop apparently knows Doc and Chuckie and is familiar with the B-17. We chatted about air shows, warbirds, restorations, maintenance, and life in general. Those guys made me really feel at home. Even the two young ladies in the gift shop were super-nice. Most of the people at Yank's, on the other hand, didn't seem to give a hoot who I was or what museum I represented or what B-17 I crewed. It was obvious that I was just another damned tourist. About the only person to treat me with any respect was the elderly gentleman who was working in the gift shop. Yank's allows guests to walk through their restoration shop, but you have to "stay inside the lines". I asked about an in-depth tour of the restoration shop and the opportunity to shoot some detail photos, and they "politely" declined my request (sarcasm). I asked about being escorted onto the ramp to shoot pictures of the aircraft, and again, they "politely" declined my request (more sarcasm). They have a fantastic museum with a wonderful collection of aircraft, but I was less than impressed with the staff's attitude.

My advice: GO TO CHINO AND VISIT EVERY MUSEUM AND WARBIRD FACILITY YOU CAN, AND HAVE A GREAT TIME! :D

Obviously La La Land propaganda! Some comedian recently referred to California as, The New Jersey of the West Coast!

I've lived in both states, and have to say it's not too much of an exagerration. (Running for cover)

If you get a chance, take her to Malibu...gorgeous place...come in thru the back way on Topanga Canyon Drive to avoid the traffic, as well as itsa nice drive. Have a great Honeymoon, WWRW!

I'll pass on the "happy" cows. I'd much rather see the flying wing and the Zero along with the many other planes there.

I don't think Yanks was there the last time I was at Chino, which was about 2002 for the show. At Steve's suggestion our formation was the P-38 and the Spitfire, and I thought that with all the photographers there then, it would be easy to get a photograph of us together, but never did.

Anyway, who and what is Yanks, what do they have and do they fly? I don't think I know them at all.

Yanks didn't have regular visitor's hours until 4 or 5 years ago, so you probably were unaware of them because it was basically a private collection. Charles Nichols has had a presence on the field for at least 30 years however, first as the Yankee Air Corps and then Yanks. Only select aircraft from their collection fly and then only occasionally.

Scott, we have enough snow so that most everything is open, but it is a little thin and firm. We are actually getting some light snow today, which figures, as I am trying to fly to Boulder. I am not sure if I still have your phone no., but there is an aviation thing Fri. night in Golden with an astronaut speaking. Do you have the no. for me in Boulder?

If you come up skiing, I may have an extra bedroom, unless your friends have something better. There are also some pretty good rates now at some hotel/motels. I'd love to ski with you guys. Some other warbird folks are coming in a week or two.

Gee...after reading all this, I feel truely blessed! My wife DEMANDS that we hit the museums, air tanker bases and airport cafe's.

Stopped by Ryan AAB in Hemet earlier this year to see some old friends and coworkers. I'm having coffee and a nice conversation and.....she's climbing all over the S-2T's (with guidance of course). Stopped by a fire station on the way out of the State to visit with my former partner in crime from the 70's. Yup, I have the coffee and she's climbing all over the rig. Her interest and curiousity for these things is endless.

Women like that are hard to find. When you do find one, never let her go! Congrats and good luck with your future!
