very nice collection. I have a question about an Curtiss OX motor.
It looks very similar to an OX-5 but the case is different. It has 2 bolt
main bearing caps instead of the 4 bolt and the front cam bearing screws
in the case instead of bolting in place . Any ideas of what it might be?
thanks

neat engine, interesting, notice the remote oil regulator mounted in front of the screw-in front or rear cam bearing. The nuts for the main caps are hand made castle nuts. Looking closely, you can see the hack saw marks on the notches for the castle slots.
We suspect it was used in twin engine applications with the RH designation. Very early with the 2 bolt caps and the thinner case/oil pan flange. Any ideas what the Curtiss version this engine is?

Seems a logical possibility might be a Curtiss OX-2? (NOT a V-2)We had about 20 OX-5 engines & parts and there were LOTS of parts specifically marked as OX-2 (cast into the rocker arms etc). Have sees so many modifcations of the OX-5 for automobilies and boats etc, BUT that screw-in front cam bearing unit would not be a mod, it is likely an earler version. Can't seem to find a good photo of an OX 2, yet.
