The boat is 26ft long 10ft 6in wide and weighs 2300kgs (not sure what that is in pounds).
Yeah it handles really well the only problem I have with it is the steering is really light (almost like powersteer).
I have no feel and have to be real gentle on it waiting for the lag. The boat really flys out of the corners. Ill get used to it with more seat time.
Re St George (Kogarah Bay). They still race there almost every month. Some of the best Unlimited racing has been there over the years.
The club is suffering from lack of boats more than problems with the locals.
Ken Warbys Worlds water speed Record trophy still is on display at the club.
Deepwater (Georges) river still runs monthly race meets also.

I haven't lived in Australia for 10 years and have never seen any power boat racing on the bay when I go home for holidays so i thought it was a thing of the past like most 'fun' power sports.
Great to see you putting the effort into a merlin powered hydroplane , its still stuck in my mind 30 yrs later when I watched them I was a 15 yr old school kid
Nothing like hearing a merlin running at full bore (in the air or water) rather than looking at one on a stand in a museum

There is still a bit of racing going on here at different tracks.

There are only two Merlin powered hydros left in this country Mine and Aussie Connection (ex Bayswater Bulk).
Incidently Aussie Connection is the only Merlin powered hydro still actively racing in the world. I saw it race a few weeks ago at Yarrawonga Victoria. It won its first heat on the short course against an open field. It burst an oil line in the final and had to retire.
