Next time you are bored, click onto the 'members' icon @ the top right border of each page in this forum and checkout how many people have become members but have never posted or posted only a very few times.
Obviously these folks at one time thought they had something to contribute, but failed or were scared off by something and now are just a number in this forum.

Second that!

I like that idea as well!

I like it too, let me know what you think of its new location and name.

Wow, that's fantastic Scott! I know Gary would have been honored but probably would have downplayed it and asked what all the fuss was about. I can think of nothing better to honor Gary's memory and his outstanding contribution to this forum. I only have one concern, however. Since it's a sub-forum now, it is kind of "hidden" and will not be very noticeable to most people. I kind of like it where it was previously, in it's own forum, as it stood out and was very visible. I'm just afraid that with putting it into a sub-forum like that, it will get skipped over. If you have other sub-forums as well, then people would take notice, but since that's the only one, I'm afraid it will attract less visitors. So, IMO, I would put the MX forum back to where it was, but just rename it Retro Aviation. Just my 2 cents and some constructive criticism! :D

Every board has a group like that. The people sign up for different reasons and may depend on the board:

- Some boards do not allow a person to view photos or video without being a member (makes for a vastly inflated number of members)

- Some board have hidden areas which only members may see

- Some folks like to be able to use the "new posts" or "posts since last login" type features to stay on top of things and one needs to be a member to use

Why they don't post could be:

- Any of the above reasons including the quoted one

- Got busy, forgot password (too lazy to request it), and haven't returned

- This board has sooooooo much information that it can be extremely overwhelming to a new person and he/she feels intimidated

Just a few off the top of my head.

It's great to have Bill Greenwood back to tell me jet engine noise is noise pollution worse than a Neil Diamond concert and that it's snowing in Aspen and I'm missing the best skiing ever. Any repair updates on that quaint little English pursuit plane   would make for interesting posts. News, perspectives and photos from a few posters I always enjoyed and are more scarce on WIX these days were warbird operators mgeorge and EDowning, history lessons and insights and pretty-competent-for-an-attorney photos from K5083, Elroy13, our favorite WIXettes Stephanie and Beachy, and a number of folks from across the pond to name a few. Any news updates from more maintenance/restoration guys are always a plus. I think Gary's passing has elevated the consciousness of all of us still posting or lurking here to rein in emotions and consider our thoughts and words more carefully even in the thick of spirited warbird related discussion coming from different perspectives. Maybe some of the posters who may have been put off by the sniping and dogpiling of the past will be encouraged by the new tone to contribute again.

I just ran across this posting, thank for thinking of me. I had pretty much quit posting on WIX because it always seemed to degenerate into something nobody wanted them to be. Recently, I have kind stuck my toe back in.

Are you planning to go to NWOC? Would like to catch up with you on a few things.

Eric

I kinda belong in this group . I think you'll find there are a lot of people who like warbirds but are afraid to come on here and say " I went to an airshow and I seen a mustang fly and I now like warbirds" without sounding like a 5 year old who just got a new bike for christmas .

Ive never worked on a plane , but I'd love to build one . Im a mechanic so that will help . I guess until I start doing something I will be a noob round here .
Also out of curiosity what happened to Gary ? Can someone link me a post that explains whats happened cause Ive seen it mentioned a few times and Im like way out of the loop with this one !

You're welcome Eric, your posts are always informative, interesting and sometimes really funny. Glad to see you back here. If I can get the days off, I'm planning to go to NWOC this year. Lately I've had pretty good luck with scheduling so I should see you there.

I'll see her in Feb when I'm in Florida for my mom's 77th birthday.

"Not around warbirds anymore", too bad maybe you can help her out while you are down there. And if she is not using her photo by her WIX name Beachy, then maybe you can use the photo to replace that one you have now!

Well, I sure don't plan on seeing any warbirds while i'm there. Seeing the wildlife and possibly eating some of them in a nice restaurant, kayaking, fishing and chasing the gators outa my mom's backyard are on my list.
