Folks....

So a friend of mine's daughter is close to delivering her 2nd child, she knows it's a boy, and she wants to do an aviation theme in the baby's room. Consider that the soon to be mother has been tagging along with Denise and I to airshows since she was 8 years old and has flown in Stearmans, N3N's, B-25's and T-6's, not to mention landing on the water of Hubbard reservoir near Breckenridge Texas with Connie Edwards in an HU-16 and you begin to understand why she wants the kid to grow up at least appreciating aviation and warbirds....to that end, she wants the room filled with planes, which Denise and I are glad to help her with. Originally she wanted a few silhouettes on the wall to resemble some plane silhouettes on a blanket she recently bought, but Denise and I have steered her towards a wider variety of planes with a slide projector I bought today at a thrift store ($3) and then projected some slides on the wall and told her how easy it would be to trace the images in a variety of sizes. The planes could be painted realistically or in fantasy schemes (Think Reno racers), but the project should be fun....we'll get started sometime this week after work and I'll keep you guys updated with some photos if interested.

Mark

Why dont you copy the artwork off one of those old air race posters from the 30's. Some of those look fantasic or even the covers of some of the old model plane mags. A whole mural would look better than individual images. If it was done right you could put all sorts of things in there to keep the kids attention.

There was one poster I saw in an old Smithsonian magazine. It was for an air movie from the 20's. Im not sure of the name something like. "the amazing air adventures of Tommy whatever". It had barstormers flying around and airships and all sorts of other aircraft in flames etc. If I can think of where that mag is in my collection Im more than happy to copy it for you. Im just not sure I could put my hands on it straight away.

Dave

Sounds fun. I got a forceful veto when I brought up something similar... :D
