Hi Dan:

You're right, and sometimes you've just got to ignore some folks.

B-W called it like he saw it after looking at the photos of your work which you quickly removed. Why did you do that Chris? Ignoring folks is good advice that you never tend to follow. Also Chris I looked at you repairs and while photos make it hard to tell, they do look pretty marginal. Nobody here wants to see you killed so take what you deem has negative comments and personal attacks with that in mind.

it's pretty darn tough to make a realistic appraisal of anything based on small, low-res pictures

Isn't that what I said??

The pictures were good enough to see poor workmanship, I could also tell he didn't roll the skin before he rivited it on which flatened it out. If that Cigar shaped patch was a snake it would have bit ya.

Constructive criticism is fine, but derogatory comments like that only start flame wars, which none of us need

it never would have gotten this far if Chris had followed his own advice

THIS IS MY RESPONSE TO CHRIS'S PM TO ME. I DON'T SEE A POINT IN BEING SECRETIVE.
Chris,
This is the start of the same arguement you have yesterday with B-W and I'm not going there again. You're going to go your own way no matter what anyone says. Has the saying goes presentation is everything. The way you present yourself is has a arguementitive know-it-all *ss. If you actually finish your T-6 and a IA actually signs it off and the DAR actually signs it off. Some Fed will see your workmanship and it will be ramp check city and by the time they're done you'll have to rebuild the whole darn thing again right there on the apron. There are resourses available through this board that could really help you but by now you're burned all your bridges and are just of out luck in that regard.

I have been ramped (I ran a maintenance outstation for the post office , Boeing-727) all the time. We would get ramped and Maintenace Feds ask me and fellow mechanics what refrence did you use to complete S/M repairs ( Rampers were always hitting the planes). You should be able to go Directly to the SRM and show him. If you fumble around and him hawaround and try to B.S him he will write it up and ground the plane. Then he is pissed you tried to B.S. him and he will go on a rampage and if you argue god help you.

He edited them for reasons that are his own. Harvard IV has been banned permanently so it's no longer an issue.

Jeez Jack - we bored? :D It's funny - when I first replied to this post (how many years ago was that exactly?) the link to his pics that I clicked took me to someone else's (BDK's maybe?) project which to me looked pretty good. It was only later that I saw what all of you guys saw on Harvard IV's project, that wing repair with a rivet pattern like the blast of a 12 gauge load of BB shot.

Oh well. "Here's to the good old days!" :drink3:

Dan
