I am eternally grateful! I have been struggling with some personal issues any you have given me tremendous insight. Stew...I think I must have been the rabbit in "Fatal Attraction."

Have you considered taking up residence on top of a mountain and dispensing pearls of wisdom to the haggard souls who trudge up some narrow winding path?

As far as reincarnation, why do you think Grand Master Po, of "Kung Fu" fame referred to Kwai Chang Caine (David Carradine) as "grasshopper", when he was clearly a Caucasian man playing an Asian? He clearly must have been an insect in a previous life; you just have to have an open mind like Bill Greenwood.

I am a believer and at the same time I'm not super hard core religious either. I'm definitely more of a Science guy than blind religion. After reading that, it is pretty dang amazing. The GI Joe dolls named after his friends who served on the ship? Whoa.

I've half joked before that maybe I am reincarnated from someone who lived during the war, because I am obsessed with the time period, way more than should be normal...

I totally expected August's thoughts on the whole thing too.

I don't know how you could ever "prove" a claim like this. It would be easy to disprove however if you found evidence of fraud.

Just like the belief in god, it is difficult to prove or disprove something that requires faith. By definition there is nothing tangible.

I will go, master. But I think I'll stay away from hot tubs.

Beyond what's already been covered about the boy's memories of shipmates and fellow pilots, the one thing which really sort of sealed it for me is that his memories are of some random guy flying an FM-2 off of a virtually unknown ship, dying almost anonymously in the later stages of the Pacific war. (The pilot flew a Corsair in training, apparently). Info on escort carrier operations is pretty thin, even online- yes, it's out there, but you've got to dig for it, and you've got to have a pretty good idea of what you're looking for. And these "night terrors", etc seem to have started happening when the boy was around three... he's 11 now. How much info was online about escort carriers back in 2001? Not much, so far as I know.

So for the boy to claim he flew from the Natoma Bay, instead of a well-known ship like the Enterprise or Lexington or what have you, tells me one of two things: either the father is very well versed in Pacific carrier ops and is a complete master at disguising that fact for over eight years now, or there's something legitimately going on here which is quite a bit outside of what we expect from a "normal" life. And no, this bears no resemblance to the "Balloon Boy" episode at all- especially as veterans from the Natoma Bay have embraced the family and feel James's story has merit.

Others may disagree, and that's fine... neither "side" can prove or disprove their claims, so it comes down to how this fits into your personal belief system. I personally think there's an awful lot of things going on around us which we don't understand fully or may not even be aware of, and this is a very good example.

This could spin out of hand rather quickly into a religious discussion, then an argument, then members getting banned.., personal attacks, more banishment.., could get U gly!

Respectfully, I'd ask that we wait a bit before we put this one in the penalty box... I'd prefer to think that people with divergent opinions on this topic can agree to disagree. We're all grown-ups here, I think, and I'd be interested in hearing other peoples' thoughts about this, even if they don't necessarily match mine.

330, topics and posts are not like second hand smoke, or jet noise, if you don't like them or are not broad minded enough to consider other views then why not just skip them?

I have only eaten beets once and got sick. Henceforth I don't eat them, but I don't have to interfere with others who do.

And perhaps the idea of banning someone is not exactly the spirit of Christmas.

But, of course my idea of freedom of speech and press, and thought like you read about in the books growing up or in the Constitution, may just be some liberal b s, and not apply to a privately owned website.

I have nothing against the topic. Not sure how you read that between the lines?

I am a believer in this.., strange as it is.., as a small kid I had vivid memories of being on a sailing vessel. I even knew the terminology, spooked my parents as well. I think, or hope.., death is only the beginning!

I have just witnessed how a simple, innocent question or statement can be spun into something horrific.., all it takes is one persons viewpoint, religious belief etc. to differ from yours and away we go!!!!! There are all types on here.., athiests, biggots, antisemites, you name it.., they are here! Also, within these walls of WIX are some of the most amazing people ever assembled.., which is why I continue to eat 'beets' and listen to the 'jet noise' and breath in the 'second hand smoke'!

Since we're bringing up personal experiences...

I did a little personal tour through Germany, France, England and Austria back in the summer of 92. First of all, I never once felt uneasy while going through these countries- it felt quite natural to me. I chalked that up to studying German and French for several years and being a lifelong student of history- I recognized places I had read about, etc. What I *wasn't* prepared for was being able to find my way around Paris without difficulty and feeling completely at home there. It was quite odd- not only did I feel comfortable walking through the city at night, but I was able to navigate my way through the streets and find various stores and sites as though I'd done it a thousand times before. It sounds fairly mundane, but if you've ever been in a completely foreign city for the first time, generally there's a sense of confusion or unease as you try to find your way around and get used to the surroundings- and that never once set in when I was in Paris. I've never quite been able to explain that, and it's something I always hark back to when I hear stories like this. I'm not saying I'm convinced of reincarnation, past lives, or other supernatural phenomena, but I've experienced things and read enough accounts to keep an open, inquisitive mind about the topic.

Well, as the reincarnation of Marilyn Monroe's Bicycle seat, I must say that this is rather intrigueing.

Coming from a very Superstitious family, Mexican decent, I must admit that we can not totally dismiss this sort of thing and after all, we are energy and energy never stops, right?

But, something about the parents just does not click with me. I have not really looked this up at all, but, is there footage of him recounting any of this? It also made me think of those little kids who memorize and recite presidents, states and torque specs on a VW bus by just simply looking at pictures.

Who knows, maybe this is all just a dream... (cue Twilight Zone music)
