B-29 restoration to fly in Connecticut?

Just a bit of B-29 info that I am tossing out there. A sealed Bid issued by the DOD offering scrap metals was issued January 5, 1977 and it had for sale a B-29 mid section. I requested and received 3 pictures - now badly faded - of a mid fuselage with a cutoff wing stub, the section looks to be near 50' long. The pic shows other scrap metals with it, but can't make out what. The 10,000 pound lot was sold for 2 cents a pound and was purchased by a company called Andersen Fabricating, 100 Johnston Terrace, New York, NY 10309. I image this company may not be in business any more, but what happened to the fuselage might be an interesting look into. By the way, this company bought other type metals which points the finger to a big scrap operation.

yep it seems the majority of B-29's are sitting outside.

Nathan, The ones I can think of that are on inside display are: "Enola Gay", "Bocks Car", "Jacks Hack", "Peachy" in Colorado and "Sentimental Journey" at Pima. The Museum of Flight's B-29 and "Doc" are both in storage undercover as well. Did I miss any? Oh yes, "FiFi"!!!

Just thought of another one inside, the B-29 at the Strategic Air & Space Museum in Nebraska so actually when you actually take an inventory, quite a few are inside which as we all know is a good thing.

I believe the B-29B at the Museum of Aviation in Warner Robbins is inside as well.

Definitely one of my favorite B-29 restorations. It looks magnificent.

Yes, I forgot the Museum of Aviation and if you want to count the ones overseas, the B-29 at Duxford is also inside.

Were you able to get a look inside "Jack's Hack" during your visit?
It's pretty fabulous inside.

No, they were a bit short staffed so the "behind the scenes" time was limited. Would love to check that out on a future visit.

Maybe it's me - I can't seem to successfully search for any old threads - it's tells me there is no such thing as "B-29". Anyway, I participated in another thread that included interior photos ..... all you gotta do is find 'em.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but the NMUSAF is doing that now. Check out their site and airplane you want to see and then click the view all pics. They are going through and updateing everything right now.
