Here is a link to pics and several short video clip of real WW II fighter aircraft. Below the link are pics of 4 of them. There are several other aircraft in the clips. The planes are in a collection (Paul Allen - Microsoft billionaire - www dot flyingheritage dot com), at a local airport, and are flown each year.

In the past month, I made some MP3 files of the sounds of the planes taxiing, taking off and making low fly-by passes.

The sound tracks can be found AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE. Links for downloading them ARE AT THE BOTTOM. There also are 2 short MP 3 files of just the sounds of the low level fly-bys.

You are welcome to help yourself to the pics and files and to do with them as you wish. They can be added to a page or used as, or to make a ring tone, etc...

Welcome to the spin cycle we like to call WIX. I assume you live somewhere in the Everett area, as do a few WIXers, I'm about five minutes East of ATS' hanger 3 and work on 100th just East of Airport Way. FHC's aircraft pass right over the house on Saturdays so I know early in the day if whats scheduled is actually going to fly. The RATA, with it's short stacks is fun to listen to, it has that sort of wooden block in a tumbler sound that all big single row radials have at light power settings.

All of you, WIXers and non, remember that this Saturday May 15th is General Aviation Day @ Paine Field KPAE, and both the FHH and FHC will be flying aircraft including the F7F, F8F, B-25, and the odd surprise or two all day Saturday starting @ 0900 and going till 1500 plus an open house @ FHH on the West side of the field afterwards. :D :D :D :D :D 8)

About a year or so ago I posted a query here looking for airplane ringtones. Another WIXer suggested www.phonezoo.com from which I downloaded "radial engine flyover". My phone rang at work and one of my supervisors asked me if I had a crop duster in my pocket  It sounds like a big slow single row engine and a friend at Lone Star thinks it sounds like an FM-2. At any rate, it's unique, I can hear it and I love the funny looks I get when it rings. It makes two full passes before it goes to voice mail.

Haven't been here for some time.

I now have 24 pages of photos of WWII warbirds, and a bunch more video clips of fly-bys.

I used the same URL and replaced the old file with the updated contents.

http://www.pointshooting.com/flyby.htm The url with the latest file name is http://www.pointshooting.com/1aflyby.htm

Here's a link to a good explanation of how to convert mp4 files to mp3 or wav files using VLC, which is open source:

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/2719/how ... -with-vlc/

The mp3 or wav files can be edited with audacity which is also open source, to produce ring tone files.
