Looking for info on a 375th FG P-51D

Hi all!

My best friend has asked me to find out some information on his fiancee's great uncle Lt Robert J Farney, and his P-51D 44-14827 E2-V "Croghan Cruiser" (left side) "Waverley Democrat" (right side). He served with the 375th FG, and Adam and Jana are very keen to hear about his history with the unit.

Any information, photographs or leads greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance from NZ.

Have now had the opportunity to do some research of my own.

Robert Farney was from Croghan, New York and joined the 361st Fighter group at the end of October 1944 at the age of 23 as a replacement pilot. He achieved the rare distiction of shooting down a FW190 on his first combat mission on November 26th 1944. He went on to shoot down a lone hedgehoping Me109 on Jan 25th 1945. He ended the war credited with 3 kills and 1 damaged.

Nice pic of Waverley Democrat on page 124 of Steve Gotts' history of the 361st " Little Friends."

Have some nice pictures of Robert Farney I can pass on and I try and post them here later.

Hi Guys!! I`m the one you`ve been researching for - thank you so much for your enthusiasm!! And thank you Zac for being so proactive on our behalf!! I`m a bit new to forums so interested to see how this all works!! My girlfriend`s Great Uncle is Bob Farney, and we`re facinated to find out as much as we can about his history during his time flying Mustangs. Thank you for the images that have appeared through your research already. We have a dream to one day create a memorial to him by obtaining a Mustang in the livery of the Croghan Cruiser - a dream that is a long way off right now!! but one that we`d like to find out as much as we can about now. We look forward to your futher findings, especially pictures of the aircraft!! Thank you kindly in advance!!
