Any idea how much more work it's going to take? Have you mainly been working on the airframe, and are yet to tackle any of the systems? Congrats on what is shaping up to be the best B-25 ever!

Wow! I’m sure everybody operating or restoring a B-25 would love to check this bird out. What a time capsule! As far as I know every flying J model is post Hayes! I would love to know this planes history. Thanks for posting and welcome to WIX Lynn!

I am a regular member. I just read lots more than I write. Some of the history, s/n 44-30203 (got the Data plate right here)
lend-leased to Venezuela after the war as a shiny new J. Flew down there until the early seventies when the bulk of their 25's were sold off except 4 which were pushed back off the ramp at Marakay into the weeds. They robbed some parts but soon the weeds became jungle and they were forgotten about until an American Ed Young who had married the general's daughter (no I'm not making this up) heard about them from an old retireee at a party. He investigated and much to his surprise...... . Anyway I heard about them and headed down there, kinda the first to arrive. I couldn't believe how original they were. All of the armor plate still in them (including the swinging door at the front of the tunnel). Tail turret was still in it, list goes on and on. I left them a doposit, put the rest in an escrow account FOB Oakland and have been living the dream ever since. I wouldn't ever call it the best one out there out of respect for some pretty nice B-25's that have been turned out over the years. It will be nice if I ever get it finished.

As far as that goes, again, it's the journey not the destination. Think of all the fun you other guys are missing out on. It will be finished one day. I have limited financial resources to throw at it but so far that hasn't even slowed me down. It might when I get around to fuel bladders. Until then, just having the time of my life. If you are ever around Santa Rosa, look me up.

Most of the J's still flying are Hays or Hughes-modified TB's or N's. Our Sunday Punch is another original J. Easy to tell by the electrical system.

Was your B-25 in the same weeds that the B-25 "Killer Bee" was in?
i seem to remember that it was also from Venezuela and it had been next to two or three other airframes.

I don't want to ruffles any feathers but the serial on this aircraft seems to be in question. From my files I see that 44-30203 was lost on November 8, 1945 at Elmira NJ with loss of crew of 5. If Lynn could post the MFG number it would help confirm for sure. 44-30302 was sent to Venezuela and was one of the 4 brought back from storage. So my guess at this point is the serial should be 44-30302 based on record cards, history and accident reports.

Wrong plane, that is the ex- Sunday Punch, Lynn's plane has not flown and as far as known is still being restored.
