Is this one of those movies where you'd want to edit it down to just the flying scenes and then dub your own music? :axe:

Perhaps it's a movie about people LARPing who have grown tired of their fake wooden swords,
coffee can armor and decided to move into a later period of history? Do you think there
will be scenes with them all proudly sitting at Denny's in the morning before the "battle"
is fought in some local park......?

This seems like a Train Wreck Film, something that has to be seen to discuss the details of
how far the shark was jumped.....

I gotta admit that about part way through the trailer I was getting really excited about this movie. A Harvard waxing the P-51 would be a nice turn of events, but then they had to go back to the old Hollywood cliche of the P-51 shooting down the Harvard. At least the L-29 got revenge in the end.

I wonder if it will be worse than Thunder Over Reno?

well, let me think... there's some guys there who are doing a movie.. with real aircraft in it, the one we usually like... who care's if it is bad? When I saw iron eagle it wasn't the plot I was interest in. Let's hope it make young kids blood boil so they keep the fever or develop one and make them more interested in all of this kind of stuff. Before saying "bad or good" let's await to for it and always state for what purpose are we doing that evaluation...

Sounds similar in a way to a book I have stuffed on my bookshelf somewhere called "Gray Eagles".
I finally read that book for the first time this past summer and loved it. I think a movie based on that book would be incredible, although you’d have to make it take place in the 70s or 80s as the real vets would WAY too old today for it to be even remotely believable.

I would much rather see a documentary made about Reno Air Racing, or a historical piece about actual WW2 air combat, than some "action" movie based on a lane concept like this. There are plenty of great books that could be made into movies, like "Thunderbolt" or "Samurai" or even remake "Baa Baa Black Sheep" - but this one sounds like a loser. I'd love to see a movie about Cook Cleland and Dick Becker, and the Cleveland Air Races.

"Thunder Over Reno" was basically unwatchable without the mute button and the fast forward button, but the behind-the-scenes DVD "Racing Reno" was great.

I liked it! I could watch that all day long. It made me smile anyway. SNJ shooting from its landing lights!

My wife cant understand why I don't like movies like this. "Excuse me, I don't like to watch something that insults my intelligence."

I read GREY EAGLES years ago and thought it would make a great film. Obviously it would have had to be a "period piece" set in the 70s or 80s for the vet angle. But there weren't enough German planes flying at the time to make it happen and cgi was not as advanced as it is today.
Now there ARE enough German planes flying and you can forget about cgi with enough real planes involved. (especially if it would replicate the P-40s and Zeros going Mach-2 like they did in that dog PEARL HARBOR!) They could even incorporate some of the Texas 262s into it. It would be outstanding.

After reading the first chapter of Grey Eagles I spend two years at air shows looking over my shoulder....it was that good!
Sounds like this will draw heavily on the basic premise of GE.

Of course there is going to be some sort of PC-stupid twist involved (otherwise it won't be produced) but the flying of real planes and NO CGI would be worth the price of admission.
