Does anyone know the history of this thing. I saw it one trip and it was all together, then went back a few years later, and it was taken apart. Anyone know if it is still there?

It was there a little over a month ago and it's still there, still torn apart. It looks pretty sad and could sure use some help but I doubt it will ever see any. They've moved the R/C plane that was used in Con Air to the outside now (was inside the building where you wait in line), and they've completely sawed an entire wing off to give room for the trucks to drive down the path instead of finding a place where the plane would fit. They don't seem to care about preserving anything so I really wouldn't expect the Lodestar to get any attention. It sucks to see it there rotting under a tree in pieces. I went through the pictres of my last trip and couldn't find any of it, but I can dig through some from other trips and may be able to find one if needed.

On the bright side they finally repainted the Pearl Harbor P-40's. They were in pretty bad shape in recent years. Sorry for the crappy shot.

I beleive it is made of a lighter tubular or I beam. It is been a while since we had the wings off but this is as I recall. Rail road track would be much too heavy for this application.

Here are some fresh pictures if anyone is still interested in Disney planes. I took these a couple weeks ago, the date is wrong on some of them.

Here is the one Chris was asking about.

This one is in the Great Movie Ride. It's pretty dark, the plane is behind a black screen, flash photography isn't allowed, and you move through pretty fast, so these two aren't the best.

These last two are on Disney's island in the Caribbean, Castaway Cay.

A few of the Hollywood Studios airframe IDs are here...

I think I have an ID for the Lockheed 10/12 in my notes someplace. I will need to look for it when I get home (post Geneseo).

As for Castaway Cay... there are actually two Beech 18s there. One is "displayed" at about the mid-point of the runway. This is the one pictured here. There is another at the end of the runway closest to the "no children" beech. See the satellite image here...

...Does anyone have any ID information for either of the Beaches near the beach? 8)

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

The first two Beech pictures I posted are of the one at the half way point down the runway where the bike path goes back, the second two pictures are the down at the end at the entrance to the adult beach.
