I think that I may still have 4 that came off of FiFi mains. (Same size as B-17). Appaerntly someone was a litlte bit aggressive on the brakes and there is a small flat spot on what were pretty nice tires. Ryan

You pulled tires for a small flat spot? Did they burn it right down to the cord? What kind of technical info governs flat spots on the B-29? On most of the planes I work on there is no mention of it. Does the CAF have there on standards regarding flat spots on tires?

I would imagine that they would be a bit strict when it came to tires as they are traveling all over the USA, think of the costs to fly a B-29 main to the airplane so they could just get a few more landings out of it.

Chris, I'll take a picture of our 'dining room' table at the hangar. It's a B-24 wheel rim on its side with 20mm rounds (powder removed 8) ) holding the glass up.

Ok, lets see a picture of that 8) :drinkers:

The spot is pretty deep but not that large. I was about 8 years old when they were pulled so I can't tell you what the issue was at the time.
