passed, missing WIX'ers, etc....

Sat Nov 21, 2009 11:17 am

Just curious if we have had any other WIX member passings within the last few years? :?: I know a lot of people come and go on WIX. Makes it really hard to keep track of everyone. It seems a lot of people post 3 or 4 time sthen never come back. Maybe we should have some sorte of roll call thread? I know I am missing some friends that I dont see much anymore. Whether people lurk anymore or dont come on wix at all. :?:

cheers,
Nathan

Well, after over a year away I came back last monday. I was never much of a contributor, but but I would weigh in from time to time. After so long I feel like I'm starting out here for the first time again. It's a little weird actually.

Although they were not WIX'ers, both my parents passed away within the past 2 & 1/2 months. I miss them alot.

Pat, I lost my grandparents on my dad's side not long ago and I was crushed. They passed within months of eachother. I am sure it is even worse when it is your mom and dad.

I'm very sorry to hear this. I hope that participation here on WIX can help keep your mind off of your loss. It's part of my continuing therapy (lost Dad and fiance in last few years). Aviation is salvation...

I've been pretty good and I hope you and everyone else here have been as well (obvious recent losses excepted of course). I got in my PT Cruiser and drove to Alaska during the summer of '08 and when I got home had various online and offline issues that took me away from WIX. Scott's new upgrade has cured my login problems and now I'm back in the proverbial pilot's seat again. I'm going to be playing major catch up for a bit, but it's good to be back.

Sorry to hear that Pat. :( Me and my girlfriend sends wishes and prayers to both you and your family.

cheers,
Nathan

P.S. I changed the thread title might as well make this the "unofficial WIX roll call thread". :)

Hey Nathan....gonna sound like a broken record here...but...life tends to throw us some curveballs from time-to-time. Not that I was ever much of a grand contributor here either, but early on I asked a question soon after I joined this site. Got jumped by a couple of "experts" (using that term very loosely!) and have had the displeasure of seeing one or two of those same "experts" jump you about your B-36 dreams...finally got disgusted and stopped coming in here all together. It really sux for us to have lost Gary Austin, but if any shred of good comes from his passing, I have noticed a certain change in the air from all of the nit-picking posers jumping on those of us less edumacated personnel. Not sure if that is a temporary thing...hope that we can all get along, keep talking about those glorious old airplanes and maybe some of the other people who left will slowly come back. Friggin awesome that Bill is back...I know he did not leave on his own...hope that he can stay out of trouble and be with us for a long time to come...(Bill knows that he and I see eye-to-eye politically)

At any rate...as has been the case with quite a few of us, I moved, started a new job and will eventually hook-up with the CAF guys here in central Virginia. My teenage son has had some issues settling in to the new area, but we are working on that.

Other than the great D-Day Memorial in Bedford, not much in the way of WWII stuff in this particular part of Virginia, Whole lotta Civil War battlefields and memorials!

So much fun to live vicariously through people like Rich the 51 fixer and Vlado the 51 flyer :D

I have to say that I have become a lurker as the forum has moved more towards being more of an American based forum, than when it originally started and it does appear that the European based posters, that used to post regularly, seem to have migrated towards the PlaneTalk and Key Publishing Forums

Don't take that as a criticism as its not intended that way but as I am not on that side of the pond, I don't really have the local knowledge to contribute but I do view the site every day.

Mind you, I don't tend to post a lot the other forums either........
