Fury Flies Again!

Wed Nov 11, 2009 11:32 pm

Greetings All!

Well, Dr. Sugden and is FJ-4B Fury N400FS should be back in Pensacola now after leaving Spirit of St. Louis this morning. The Fury was repaired by AvMats and they did a great job of bringing her back to life. The two test flights - one each on Monday and Tuesday - went well with no squawks and this morning she left St. Louis bound for Pensacola. I've been wanting to see this aircraft since it first went out on the airshow circuit and I consider myself very lucky/blessed to have been there today to see her off. I am sure glad that the good Doctor had the wherewithal and drive to put her back in the air for the rest of us to continue enjoying!

Enjoy the Day! Mark

Where can I find the story of what happened? I know you guys probably all know but I am, as usual, in the dark.

As much as I love the USAF F-86 line, I think the Fury line was the prettiest of them all. Sorry dad.

good job doc!

If you do a search you can find an extensive thread about what happened, including pictures of the event. Basically, it was "pilot error".

Thanks for the news and the photos, Mark. That is FANTASTIC to see that Rich Sugden finally has the FJ-4B back in the air one year later. I wish I could see it at Pensacola. Hopefully I will catch it at a show somewhere in 2010. This should be major vintage participant in Centennial of Naval Aviation air shows in 2011.

What an amazingly beautiful aircraft !
Also to be highly praised, this aircraft is painted in a scheme which exactly looks like the scheme it wore when it was in active service. Enough rare to be mentioned and to thank the team for that :D
