Hi

Could any of you tell me the part number/name for the corsair props please.
I'm aware that they had three and four blade props what are the differances?

Also is the same four blade prop used on the F2G as the standard corsair four blader or is it unique.

Do any other types share the same blades?

Thanks

Ben

My cousin's husband (Bob Metty) was a senior engineer for Hamilton Standard/United Aircraft and designed many HS props inc the a number used on the Corsair models inc the F2G and later the Albatross's reserveable props. He sent me soon very cool stuff but it's all ashes!

I just checked my F4U-1 E&M manual, and it says the propeller hub is 23E50. The blades are type 6541A-0 or 6501A-0 for all F4U aircraft Bu.57356 and subsequent, and FG-1 aircraft Bu.76149 (FAA KD571) and subsequent.

Earlier versions used the 6525A-21 and 6443A-21 blades which gave a prop arc 3" larger in diameter.

I do know that the Hellcat used the same 3 bladed prop, and also that C-47's do too, or at least the C-47 prop is useable on modern -1 corsair flying examples.

As for the four bladed prop, I don't know for sure. I would imagine that the spline on the 4360 was different than on the R-2800, so the hub would be different at least, but perhaps not.

Cheers,
Richard

PS. Why do you need to know?

Per the F2G E&M Manual AN 01-195FA-2,

Dome and hub: 24E60-41

F2G-1: 14 Ft dia propreller 6491A-14
F2G-2: 13ft-7 in propeller

It does not give a number for the smaller blades.

Kenn

Thank you both, didn't realise the Hellcat shared the same prop, just the type of information i was after.

I'm trying to make a large scale model prop and just trying to see how many blades can cover the same type.

Thanks again for your time

Ben
