Keystone LB-7s at the NMUSAF?

Thu Nov 05, 2009 10:48 pm

From the Veteran and Vintage book thread:

Keystone LB-7 bomber 1929-35, serials 29-13 and 29-16 (parts of - for building of one machine).

That's all.

That's what I was looking for, PeterA - thanks a lot!

OK, NMUSAF - what's the story? Baugher has those two airframes written off in Nicaragua in forced landings due to fuel exhaustion on the same date in 1931. When were they salvaged? I've never heard any stories about these planes being recovered from down there - there was a lot of reportage on the recovery of the B-10 from Argentina and the O-38F from Alaska around the same time; so what about the Keystones?

Over to you all...
