Folks:

I saw a BF-108 for sale just curious if anyone has any idea what they're worth?

I don't have any idea, but just in case you don't know there is the German one, a French one (Nord) and then another French one that has a tricycle gear. The French ones have Renault engines that purpotedlyhave a very short life or are unreliable. Many of the French ones have been converted to horizontally opposed engines, at last in the US.

So I guess part of the answer is that it really depends if the plane in question is of German or French manufacture. The German ones share their engine with the Fi-156 Storch STOL aircraft.

It's German built, w/ the Renault engine.

A nice cockpit shot is here:

But much interesting is the nearly original cockpit instrumentation of the recently restored D-EBFW (D-IBFW):

This blue Bf-108 was build in 1937 and is the oldest Bf 108 still flying. The plane is based at Ober Moerlen (near Bad Nauheim) and Reichelsheim (Friedberg area), both airfields not to far away from Wiesbaden.

If it is German built it would have an Argus inverted air cooled V-8. The Renault engine was an inverted in line 6. From the photos of 3 108s from the other post all of them have the Argus.

Doesn't mean it wasn't German built.

If it's German-built with a Renault, it's WW2 stock (crash-reclaim or unfinished components) built by Nord post-war.

Much love for the Bf108 from me. Saw one of the two UK-reg Nord 1002s in action a few years ago - strafing the airfield with some nice pyros! Couldn't get the airfield attack scene from 633 Squadron out of my head afterwards....

Incidentally, as to their worth: the Nord 1002 featured in one of the UK mags a few years back was (then) around £60-70,000 as I recall (but don't quote me on that).

That's true I guess I was being too literal.

Which one of these did you see for sale?

Not long ago the N108ME was for sale. Formerly owned by Paul Skogstad.

My dad had a Bf-108 (Nord) He bought it from a guy in Connecticut that had imported 5 or so from France. At the time, not nearly so much was known about the priovenance of these types and how to keep them going. It had the Renault engine with the Ratier constant speed hollow steel prop.
He was told that if he ever damaged the prop that there were fewer airwothy props than Nords in existence.
The airplane has amazing performance and is shockingly revolutionary considering it came out in the mid 1930's. Compare it to a Staggerwing or cabin Waco.
Someone pointed out to me that it had a tag that said "Wr265" or whatever and they thought it was a real Messerchmitt. We just didn't have the research resources or internet back then so never thought too much about it. I believe most of the Nords wre built from left over inventory after the war since the factory was located in occupied France.
The N number is N108TN and we also had a Me-208 project which we bought from John Silberman but resold quickly!
