I'm speechless and practically in tears. Gary was my best friend that I never met. I just had a message from him on my voicemail and hadn't returned it. OMG

I only met him briefly at Reno a couple of years ago. Very cool guy. I know he will be missed. Here he is rounding the pylons at Reno. I really enjoyed his posts about his Reno adventure.

Sitting here on a LGA layover and I'm shocked at the sad news. In the midst of Gary's memorable postings on Ol' 927, I was standing at the cockpit door one morning at DFW saying the "Buh Byes" when a familiar face came up the aisle toward me. "Gary Austin?," I said. "Yes!" came his reply. Gary and I had a very nice if all too short chat on the jetbridge before we both had to run off to catch connecting flights. Gary was a fine gentleman. Happy landings on your flight West, sir.

Gary Austin committed suicide this morning. I would like to say that I was his friend. I work with him for years at Ezell's and help him on some side projects. I failed him as a friend. I did not tell him how much God loved him. How God made him. How God send his own son to die for him. If Gary had only known how precious his life was and had accepted Gods gift of salvation. We would not be crying about a life that ended way to soon.

No way
I'm so sorry to hear this news, and even more sorry to his family and close friends. I never would have thought this is how it would end for one of our favorite members. I cant even imagine what could have been his driving motive for him to do this.
I cant say much more than what has already been said. I just feel sick inside and will have a hard time falling asleep.
Gary, you are still one of my heros.

Oh My -what a terrible tragedy, he always seemed full of life and had an infectious enthusiasm for old aircraft. What a waste
