Here's another in the sequence of the VMF-224 Corsairs taxing out to hit Rabaul in March 1944.

Nice Pic, Thanks Jack! Very atmospheric! Taste that coral dust!!! That has got to have been rough on the engines. The difference between carrier deck and dirt strips must have effected the engine life between overhauls.

Note the Brewster ranks. Probably their best contribution to the war effort!

Cool photo. Thanks for all of your generosity, Jack.

I have taken a novice interest in the Brewster Corsairs from this board. Pre-Wix I didn't even know they existed. How were you able to ID them as Brewsters? What were the tell-tale signs?

I believe he meant Brewster Racks (probably got changed by the auto censors!) the centerline bomb rack was converted over and used to great effect by the Corsair!

I agree, great picture Jack! :)

Holedigger: The engines have air filters, but think about the props!

...or the pilots! They had to breath that stuff too!! There was a reason WWI pilots wore scarves! and it wasn't to be stylish!

Great Shot Jack!
Question?: Are they actually returning from a mission or departing?
I realize that there is a bomb on the rack, but the tape over the guns has been fired through. Seeing all that dust going into the barrels looks like trouble.
Just an observation.
Keep 'Em Coming Jack!
