Wiley Sanders I believe had a "gas operated" nose gun in his B-25 a number of years ago, don't know if he still has it "hooked up er not"

I don't remember exactly which airplanes it was, but I remember seeing several at Oshkosh and Airsho' in Harlingen during the late 70's / early 80's which had the gas-powered guns on them. I only specifically remember one B-25 which had the gas guns on the turrets. There were several others as well, but I don't remember which ones.

It seems like the gas powered guns on warbirds kind of died in the 80's - anybody know why?

Can't recall the owner, but a silver AT-11 in Chinese makings used to show up at OSH (80's & 90's?) that had propane guns in a Crocker-Wheeler turret. I'm quite certain I jumped the first time I was close by and they lit off.

It was a good idea, it just didn't work.

The B-25 "Silver Lady" had a propane gun in the nose when Bill Arnot still owned her. On at least one occasion, a real .50 was installed and fired in flight.

When Mike Wright was still flying the Corsair "Warthog" it had propane guns.

The T-6 (Zero) we have up in the Olympic Flight Musem has two propane guns in the cowling but we haven't had the propane hooked up since I moved away several years ago.
