This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Not a warbird....a target.

very well put statement randy!! you've been on the field, as have other current military & veterans who are members of this site. arm chair quarterbacks abound on this site. i usually keep silent on things that i haven't actually experienced.

It looks pretty good.
Is there an "ignore" feature that can be turned on?
Ryan
My guess is a "Short-circuit".

If Randy is indeed what he says he is
Is he the real deal ? You bet he is....
I've seen those steely blue fighter pilot eyes and that recruiting poster square jaw, in the the flesh. If he didn't make the Thunderbirds look so small, they would have surely picked him to join, but on the other hand they fly those little jets and Randy only flys the biggest of our fighters !
Thanks for your service, Randy.

I didn't think Joe's picture was the real deal:

Looks like they're building their own planes now!

Well, you're half right....I have blue eyes! Other than that, I'm pudgy and ugly -- not sure what recruiting poster that would be for, heh heh.

Another illusion shattered.

Well, I look svelte next to Robin Olds at least. Anyone who has met Olds knows, though, that in addition to being a giant personality he was also a pretty large man.

pudgy....NOT....ugly.....NOT
Being a rather "short stuff" and having stood next to Gen Olds several times, I can say from this picture you are definite NOT short. As for the rest of your comment, it is subjective in your mind.
Take Rick's comparison to a recruiting poster and run with it....LOL

I am sorry to all that think I am crazy but I am enjoying seeing pictures of F-14's flying regardless what country it is. I know a lot of you complained and cried when the USN retired the F-14 but yet these same people can't wait for the Iranian F-14s to be blown out of the sky.

I am taking this alittle hard and somewhat disapointed. I hate war. I enjoy studying it but I hate it. I wish this world was more friendlier. Perhaps these Iran pilots are not bad people just ruled by bad people. Not everyone in Iran is bad, not all Germans where Nazi's, etc.
Note: These comments are not against Randy or any other past or present service member in this thread. THANK YOU for your service and allowing me to live in a free land. I know I am ameture when it comes to this stuff and I am not trying to act as I know more then any of you...I don't. I just enjoy seeing airplanes. I am old school and love old planes. Nuff said.

You're spot-on, Nathan...truly.
As a military flier I have always held the utmost respect for ALL servicemen and women who stand up for their country. There is nothing more noble.
Some of the people I admire most in history are the pilots who flew for the 'other team'. Doesn't diminish the warrior spirit or the skills required to be a great pilot. You take an oath to the country...and sometimes you don't necessarily believe in the direciton the leadership takes you, but you still answer to the belief in the higher cause. Just because you fly under a flag doesn't mean you drink the Kool Aid.
