This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Does anyone know anything about this? The website is kind of cryptic, I don't understand why they chose this particular date.

It is a bit of a cryptic site! The 2009 show was cancelled due to budgetary shorfall. It may have been the only date they could get the Thunderbirds in, a lot of dates are set by when they can get a major performance team, and the Thunderbirds ALWAYS have a full dance card! I would hope they do some sort of solemn, respectful memorial tribute.

Yea, I live in Pittsburgh and was really sad about the news of the 2009 airshow.
I just thought it was interesting date of Sept 11 for an airshow, things are not always cooperative weather-wise around that late in the year. Besides the 9/11 date too.
Of note too, it is put on by the Air National Guard Base here (A refueling wing, and 911 Air Lift Wing)
Lots of coincidences here.
