This picture appeared two days ago on Airliners.net:

http://www.airliners.net/photo/USA---Ai ... 1591412/L/

Googling on the serial 41-24226, it appears to be the former 'Joisey Bounce', of the same unit as 41-24301 'Lady be Good'. Did any of you know this B-24 stil existed this way, as a museum exhibit ?

Tillerman.

Wow! Is this real, or just a nice mockup? I find it hard to believe but not impossible) that an original B-24 airframe would still exist that someone here would not be aware of.

Mockup built for a movie - sold to a museum afterwards.

I sent a message to the (oh so picky and full of correctness) editors at Airliners that this is not a real airplane and that the information they allowed to be posted is incorrect.

We'll see what good it does...

Don't know what it said earlier, but when I follow the link now it is listed as a "replica."

Maybe better to search in the Romania for relics?

I think this was the replica built for the movie "Resistance." Never see it though.

It wasn't listed as a replica, and just that was the reason why I started this thread. I already had my reservations as I thought it was very unlikely that an aircraft of this fame would be laid out as an exhibition piece somewhere in an European pasture and go unnoticed for so many years.

The visitor comment below the photo is mine. I've sent a message asking the editors to remove my comment and undo my 5-star rating. Let's see what they do about it.

Tillerman.

Edit: my comment was removed since it is listed as replica.

How about that!

They did not have it listed as a replica.

it seems like they actually listened to our comments.

And yes, my comment was removed at my request. The picture was made and uploaded by someone from the Airliners.net Customer Service and Support department.

There is now someone else's comment that explains that it is a replica indeed.....

Nevertheless, it's a nice looking replica.

Tillerman.

Up close you can see it's plastic, but it looks really good from a few feet away!
