Air Ambulance, Inc.

Sun Jun 05, 2005 10:07 am

I know this is a long shot but I am trying to locate information about a North Carolina-based company called Air Ambulance, Inc., which was founded by a former P-51 pilot named Boyd Ticktin and a former Ferry Command pilot named Jack Hunter in 1946 or 1947 with the help of former Lt. Col. C.M. Kos - who was at Duke University post-war.

This is what I know about the company. It was based out of Durham, NC and flew surplus twin engine Cessnas (in 1947 they had a total of six) oufitted with the necesary equipment to transport patients long distances. The company was known for hiring former USAAF personnel and they opened offices in New York. in '47 they w ere planning on starting offices in Seattle, Chicago, Houston, Denver, Los Angeles and Miami.

Any information would be much appreciated.
