You know, I would love to have a few of the originals but thats a high price to pay. I have some replicas and they are somewhat less expensive. Buy the originals for me and donate them if you would like to do that??

Believe it or not, brand new ones for a Herc go for about $200.00 out of Fed log. Ridiculous for a plastic disc. I would be tempted to pay that for one from a B-29. Is there a company that makes reproductions for the old planes (B-29, B-17, etc.)?

The B-29/24 Squadron has just received a challenge grant from an individual who wishes to remain anonymous. If the squadron can raise $20,000 the individual will donate an additional $10,000. I know times are tough, but every penny will help us on the road to getting and then keeping "Fifi" and Ol' 927 FLYING where they belong. If you would like to help us out you can do so at

http://www.cafb29b24.org/a/Make-A-Donation.htm
or
by calling HQ at (877) 767-7175 and telling the operator that you want to help get and keep "Fifi" in the air.

Had a couple of bids on it, but when it went over $200, had to call it quits.

This is the latest on the right wing section, It'S HERE! Arrived yesterday from California via Carl's trailer. Some of the pics are from Carl's place while work was being done.

If that is the original "flexi-flyer" I believe that trailer has hauled more warbird parts than any other trailer in the world. Carl is has been towing that trailer across the country hauling parts around for decades.

Here are some more updates on the wing progress...

On the special lift rack attached firmly to the old fork lift, "Big & Red"

Image

Dave puts some finishing touches on the end of the wing. Just a touch of primer to make doubly shure.

Image

The wing section on the flying carpet. Rich gives the signals to Mark below on the fork lift.

Even our fearless leader, CEO, and Cheer leader Steve, gets in on the act.

Image

OK Mark, you pull down while we jiggle it into place! Ready, NOW!!

Image

No one just stands around here in this squadron. Way to go Kevil and Dave! Just look at that team work!

Image

OH, OH, just look what Mark, Rich, and Mark did while Dave wasn't looking! Is that an aleron on the wing? Way to go guys!

My thanks to Mark and Mark and Rick for gettin ur done! I came in this morning and saw that and was just amazed at what they did after I left the hangar yesterday afternoon! It's like Night at the Museum, with a bunch of old B-29 mechs coming to life and working on the airplane!! We are about finished with everything I wanted to get done before AirSho so this upcoming week is just about a wash with all the AirSho stuff going on. Come on down for AirSho and I or one of my trusty volunteers, will give you the nickle tour! That's $5.00 in the donation can!!
