Apologies for the delay, I was (amazingly) out working.

I dunno, y'all, it doesn't look Russian to me. (Like I'm a big expert on jets or something.

I was thinkin' Hawker Hunter, but it doesn't have two engines.
He mentioned "Don't mention the war," but heck.....around here, just about any war that had jets in it could be controversial. (eyes rolling again) So that's not much of a hint.
I don't see a mach meter, and the airspeed indicator shows that it's not really all that much of a hot rod, as far as twin engine jets are concerned. Right???
I don't know if any of that helps y'all......it sure hasn't helped me much.

Well, all of Gary's analysis is correct, but maybe a bit tentative in drawing conclusions! (The big clues are twin engined jet from the instrumentation, and no Mach meter indicating a straight wing jet.) The war we must not mention is, of course dealing with Germans post W.W.II (Ref Basil in F
awlty Towers) and is a reference to the designer of the aircraft, one Willy Messerschmitt.
So the correct answer, and warm feeling to
lestweforget, is Hispano HA-200 Saeta (Dart).
No pony - thay're Jack's prizes.
Still up for grabs is
whose Saeta...
