Yes. And unfortunately, 10 years ago tomorrow my friend Gary Levitz was killed in MAII. I was going to plan something quiet 'on site' tomorrow afternoon to remember. Hard to believe it's been 10 years already.

Very sad! I remember when I walked into the paint bay at Goodrich to get some UPS brown for a skin patch I was working on and to my surprise there was this P-51(?) in the bay. It looked like a Matchbox in a twenty car garage! I had seen Miss Ashley a few weeks prior in bare metal flying at the Arlington show. What a sight! R.I.P. Gary.

....I had to go to the wreck site with the FAA and the insurer right after it happened....we all lost something that day.

I think my son and I are going to walk down to Lemmon Valley tonight after the show is over and just have a few quiet moments.

Like I said, it doesn't seem like 10 years. And the hard part is, most of the guys who you could smoke & joke about remembering Gary with are now gone too.

A great accomplishment for sure.
A safe and near perfect record for the week.

Time sure has gone by but he has had a need for speed since day one.
His 1st time in a walker he went 0-60 in a split second and exited off the edge of the Fighter Rebuilders shop floor. The edge was 8-10" above the ramp area at POF. Nearly resulted in a ER visit.

Congrats to Stevo, his family, and a dedicated race team.

I think I'll defer to Mr. Steve H. Jr's achievements.... congrats on the win!

Steve Hinton just let me know that Stevo hit 486.7mph at 120" and 3400 rpm. Great stuff.

It is interesting to note that the P-51H-1 with 1650-9 WI and at top perfromance was 90" and 3000 rpm for ~ 410mph at SL.

This reminds me of Al Unser Sr. and his son Jr. in the early days of his career. Steve has to be very proud the rest of us, just envious.
