"Fleet16b" was the plane wrangler (for the scenes shot in Canada -- which is the majority of the film). He's posted several times to a pretty well established thread in the Vintage Aviation section.

As usual on most internet sites people are quick to bash things before knowing anything about the subject.
OK your opinion is tainted because of crap like Pearl Harbor and the awful film Fly Boys but maybe you should try to be a little patient and wait to see the movie.
I for one am dreading the day it is released because like everything it is impossible to please everyone.
Every armchair aviator and self styled aviation historian with take their shots. Most without thinking before they post. And most not knowing what the circumstances where when making the film.
Yes I agree Pearl Harbor or Fly Boys could have been better but they were not filmed for and do not claim to be historically accurate.
Movies are made for one thing ; to make money #1 , and to entertain people.
I am all for having movies be made as accurate as possible but there has never been a movie yet in history that one can say is totally ( not even 90%) accurate and there are hundreds of reasons why this does not happen.
Oh well the movie debut is now Nov /09 so I like everyone else await to see how it will look after the filming is all put together.
At that point I am sure all the would be "historical experts " that haunt the internet will rear their heads.
Hope you enjoy the movie all the same.

It is not impossible to please everyone. Private Ryan, Band of Brothers.., both were met with a very warm reception.

Thin Red Line, great movie.., but too intelligent for most people so a thinner audience.

Pearl Harbor, Flags of our Fathers, mostly KRAP!

Problem with 'Amelia' is.., who the hell cares. Hollywood is trying to get females interested in the aviation genre. Like when Lionel introduced a 'pink' train in the 50's to get girls interested in locomotives. Surprise.., total failure.

This movie will be a flop and a half. Albeit, great photography and cool planes.., but who the hell cares!!!!!????

and Star Wars was 100% accurate.., so there!!! :-)

Who plays Richard Gillespie?

Actually, I always hope that any aviation film will rise above the usual mediocre stuff Hollywood spits out. I try not to expect too much, that way, I'm pleased if the film turns out to be a winner.

I agree.., i keep hoping for a great Hollywood aviation movie.., i think we are going to have to settle with "Memphis Belle' for a while. (and that was borderline)

You forget Dark Blue World, which was a fabulous film, and much better than Memphis Belle, both cinematically, and otherwise.

It's impossible to estimate the quality of a movie before its release, but:
I have followed the making of the aerial scene in South-Africa from the forum of the owner of the plane (with daily report from him) and visibly the filmmakers made an important job on the accuracy of the movie.

When the "payers" of the film decided to cancel the trip of the Loockheed from Europe to South-Africa to cut the $$$$ and to use a Beech 18 for the around the world scene (It's well know that a Beech 18 and Electra looks the same) the film crew gain to cancel this decision.

According the crew of the Electra, this movie will be a great movie. For the moment, I trust them and wait to see the movie to make my own opinion.

Tom Hanks: Fine for comedy, but how on earth anyone can tolerate that whiney voice of his for two hours or more is beyond me. To this day I feel bad for Jim Lovell for having had Mr. Hanks portray him in Apollo 13 (Heck, I feel bad for that little volleyball that had to spend all that time with him).





Please the masses...sure. Please everyone... not possible.
