Umm.......what Django said. :hide: Actually, I've never done much model building in the summer months unless it rains for a couple of days and keeps me from mowing lawns. I really haven't done anything with the YB except send a few photos to Mgawa and Holedigger for their respective projects. Our warbird commute kills most weekends, so there you have it.

I'll be posting some non-boring stuff on the Chuckie thread when we start putting the strike camera doors in the belly if that is any consolation.

More when I start building again,

The gun blister photo is of the Model 299. The airplanes visiting the Rex are YBs of the 2nd Bombardment Group. That flight got the Air Corps grounded to 100 miles or less from the coasts of the USA. The Navy was NOT impressed!

I think I ran across most of these great pics at Boeing's site. Historical shots of their preproduction model. Really cutting edge stuff at the time compared to most of the other AC of the day. Some airforces were still taking on brand new biplane fighters!

I actually sat down at the desk and pondered the YB project tonight. I had a hard time remembering where I left off, so I just tinkered with the bomb racks for a little while.

I finally bought the IPMS journal with the article on the Y1B-17. The builder could have saved himself some time and trouble by mating the Rare Planes Y1B-17 nose to the Academy B-17B kit. It is a perfect fit.

The article is written very well and is a very detailed explanation on how the builder accomplished the kit build.

How's you 1/48th scale Y1B 17 going?

I'm still collecting photos and drawings of the XB-15.

Mine is still in "hibernation", Tim. Now that the hummingbirds have gone south for the winter and lawn/garden care has slowed down, maybe I can get back to work on the YB. Of course, I still have to restore a bomb trailer, build a radome and mount for Chuckie, etc. etc......... :lol:
