Can anyone help me with the following?
I've been trying to find someone with a "warbird" in the central NC area who might be willing to allow me to help out with some of its maintenance etc. just so that I can get more experience with them.
Toward that end, I have been browsing through the FAA aircraft registration database for NC, county by county. Two of the interesting possibilities were a Twin Beech in Trinity (near High Point) and a C-47 in Raleigh - except that those registrations go back to the 1970's and I can't find any current information about those aircraft.
Are there any C-47/DC-3 experts out there who know what happened to:
N61722, Douglas c/n 20077, built as a C-47A-85-DL (according to Baugher) with USAAC s/n 43-15611 (I interpolated.) It is still registered (since 1979) to Ronald Sutton of Creedmoor Road in Raleigh (the FAA has it as "Creedroom Rd" but that must be a typo.)
I found a 1979 photo of it in Long Beach, CA on
www.airliners.net at:

Also, are there any Beech 18/C-45 experts out there (and I know about Taigh Ramey, I just didn't necessarily assume that he'd know about an almost 40 year old registration from the East coast...) who might know about:
N75418, a 1942 Beech C18S, c/n 4245, registered to a Charles A Spillman Jr of Trinity, NC in June, 1970, but the current database entry contains a notation that it was "revoked", but I don't know how to be able to tell exactly when or why.
Apparently, there was a Charles A Spillman who had a skydiving operation there in the 1970's, but the only "Jr" I found with connections to that area, I assume to be the son of the skydiver, would have only been about 10 years old in 1970, got his A&P in 1979, a pilot's license about 1990, and now lives in Florida. He also has a parachute rigger's certificate, so that does tie in. I wrote to him but haven't heard anything back yet.
There was also a Cessna 337B listed that was also registered to a Charles A Spillman Jr. in Trinity, NC, but the mailbox number was different*. It was (is) N2434S, s/n 337-0734 and it was registered in 1981 (*so maybe they moved between 1970 and 1981.)
Any help or additional information that you can provide to me about these aircraft would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
