It looks like the pilot was injured, but not life threatening.

I have no other details. I will share what I can when I can.

Dang I hope he's OK!

The pilot managed to turn the planbe around to attempt a landing but he "pancaked" the plane on the north side of a runway.

If this is correct it's a big bobo.

Mr. Cook is in a hostpital and is well although you might imagine his injuries make things difficult for him to say the least. His wife who traveled with him to Ottawa is being taken care of by the Vintage Wings family. The Tiger Moth is in the hangar and initial thoughts are it can be rebuilt, but that is a minor point because it is all about Mr. Cook right now. I know I have certainly been worried. I don't know him well, but in my time with Vintage Wings he has been good to me, making sure I got my photos, he was even my photo ship pilot a few times last year. In short he is a really nice guy and we all wish him the best in his recovery.

Not the same bird.
Vintage wings did not bring their TMoth to Oshkosh.
The one pictured above was donated to EAA years ago by a Canadian priest,
Father McGillvary. It was just recently restored for EAA by Mike Williams

This is sad news and a blow to VWOC. My thoughts are with Mr Cook and his family and I hope he pulls though ok. Thanks for posting this mike!

I am really sorry to hear this happened. My thoughts are with the Cook family as well as the VWoC family. I hope Mr. Cook and the Moth each have fast recoveries and both can take the air sooner, rather than alter.

I have no doubt everyone here wishes him well has do I.
Planes can be rebuilt and it's the secondary sonsideration.
Sounds like he and his family are in good hands.

Glad to hear Howard's not injured worse than he is, but it's still going to be a tough time for him and his family. My sincere best wishes for a speedy, streightforward recovery.

A reasonable assumption, but I think it was actually parked with the Canadian aircraft at Aeroshell, to keep with the Canadian theme. Neat anyway.

I met 'Magnum' out at Duxford a couple years ago as he and his wife were working on the HAC's Hurricane. I asked a few questions about the airplane, and his answer was to invite me to hop up in the cockpit and give me a 'tour'.

Turns out he's been a long-time friend of the USAF and RAF Lakenheath, as he is the 493d Fighter Squuadron's 'Honorary Commander'. He's a fantastic individual and pilot, someone I consider a real friend and mentor. Absolutely class act.

Last year I was able to go photograph him a couple times flying the Hawker Nimrod II in preparation for Flying Legends.
