F2G Corsairs-old color pics

Sun Aug 23, 2009 5:15 pm

Here's a few colorized pictures of several F2G Corsairs for your enjoyment. As many of you know, they are one of the rarest and most elusive of the WW II fighters. The magnificent brutes are one of my personal favorites of all time!
Hope you enjoy them as much as I do...!

You're welcome! Here's another one for you!
It was posted a few years ago by Joe Genne in black and white, but color is so much more immediate-that I couldn't resist. I'd really like to find the rest of his posted pics. I'd love to colorize them also and post them for him and for everyone to enjoy.

Your colorization technique is impressive. It is rare to see colorized b/w photos look that natural.

I find it funny that folks absolutely hated the induction scoop that we installed on a Yak 9 once, and others have been appalled at the one on Stu Dawson's Sea Fury, but everyone seems to find that hideous thing on the F2G cowling pretty in that last picture. I know it's all a matter of personal taste, and I also realize I'm the one that likes the Transavia AirTruk, but still.........

That's the Navy's 1st version of the full-length scoop-fugly!
Cook Cleland did a way nicer job on Race #94's scoop-same config as Bob Odergard's Race #57 restoration.
