Just curious, what are the two setups for air intakes on the two Sea Furies? Spirit of Texas has the top intake and the other one has no top intake?

"Spirit of Texas" has absolutely the best paintjob on a currently-flying Sea Fury. Completely beautiful.

What, you mean you don't like 911's tasteful, understated paint job? :)

Not a fan of outrageous paintjobs in general; I think the last two Rare Bear (not a Sea Fury, I know) schemes have been (and are) atrocious, and I was not a fan of September Fury.

For some reason that waving Texas pennant is just classy and flashy enough to strike a chord with me -- someone who isn't even a Texan!

Back on topic here; Dan I guess I was going off the departure from last year or maybe I was just getting too excited about this year and got the dates wrong, but the birds will leave the koop Sept. the 11th barring anything unforeseen   .
Be here before sunrize because thats when they usually leave, "crack-o-dawn" :D .

The original Centauras engine intakes will not work for a 3350 so custom intakes have to be made. Spirit used to have those intakes and then a few years ago a top scoop was developed and installed. Basically it was done to increase ram air down the carb throat to basically increase manifold pressure, gained about 5-10 increase than normal depending on various parameters :D I'll try and get a photo of it with the cowls off so you can see better.

I rather like the Spirit of Texas scheme, as a Sea Fury fan. It's a modified machine, and an 'authentic' scheme therefore isn't really appropriate (YMMV).

While civil schemes vary in quality, style class and relevance, they are never as half-assed as some attempts at original colours.

FWIW, my preferred civil Sea Fury schemes are the classic (hot-rod) flame scheme on #87 and the classic corporate style of green and yellow on VH-BOU (N588).

Oh, and not forgetting the all-too-brief G-FURY scheme...
