Aeronca Champ 7BCMs- albeit with a 100hp engine I believe, were operated as FACs and other utility duties during the Korean Police Action.
There was an absolutely gorgeous Silver 7BCM at Oshkosh and a spiffy yellow one in NAVY markings, although I am not at all certain about whether the USN ever really operated them.
So I am not at all embarrassed to call it a Warbird!

Cool, now that you have a warbird, you should:
1) put a blue nose on it
2) put shark's teeth on it
3) put D-Day invasion stripes on it
4) put the Memphis Belle on it to make people think it was the first Champ to fly 25 missions,
5) paint it up as "Old Crow", as we can never have enough of those flying around.
So, get that "civvie" paint scheme off of there and paint it up as the warbird it was intended to be!
Hey I've got an idea. Maybe if you have some paint left over, you could paint it up as "Texas Raiders" instead! Hahaha!

My first plane was a 7AC Champ, as that was my first taildragger and my first solo as well. Great plane to learn to fly in!

Congratulations! I don't care what color it is, it's better than the plane that I don't own! You won't loose that one on the parking ramp!

Congrats on the A/C!!! Not to many people get it right and put the nose wheel in the proper location, in the back... The tailwheel will continue to teach every hour you fly it. Do what I did and buy a video camera, then the ram mount and video as you go....

Good for you. That has the 13 gallon tank I guess? Some have a supplementary 5.5 gallon tank at the right wing root. You use the main until it is about half gone, then open the cock valve and gravity feed from the wing tank to fill the main. Nice simple idea to get another hr. flying unless your bladder calls first.
