Just saw this about the T-33 getting scrapped. That sucks. Unfortunately, I don't have the means to do any more airplane savin' right now. Between this Voodoo debaccle and the "junque" I have here at Austin Acres, I just gotta either let airplanes go to the scrapper, or let others save 'em.

I'm surprised JAM isn't keeping the cockpit section themselves. It'd be a good PR item to take to shows, etc, and for folks to be able sit in a T-33 without having to worry about damaging the cockpit of an airworthy T-Bird.

Just a thought, anyway.

Got the inside word that the plane, what's left of it after the useful spares are removed, will be auctioned to the highest bidder.

Here's the latest on 133648. The aircraft is now in the possession of the Jet Aircraft Museum, and has been brought to the museum at the London Airport. The aircraft was quite damaged, even though it doesn't look too bad in the pictures. The fuselage and wings were quite a lot of trouble to get apart, as they had been twisted in the accident, but the maintenance team managed to get them apart. The cockpit has already been stripped pretty clean, with all instruments, canopy and seating gone. The engine had also been removed. We plan on getting all the useful parts out of the aircraft, which is still a great resource. I mentioned to a couple of the directors about keeping the cockpit for a PR item, as mentioned by rcaf_100, which was very well received. After seeing the line-ups of people waiting to get their picture taken in the Phantom cockpit at TOM, it sure could make a great way to raise funds for the museum. Photos of the recovery can be seen at our website.

BTW, we're still on track for the scheduled fly-out from Mountainview Airport to London of the next 3 T-Birds the week of Sept 8th. I'll keep everyone up to date on this.

If she's being "parted out," you might want to contact the Kalamazoo Air Zoo. I think they're still looking for a set of flaps for their static T-33.

Thanks Steve. I've notified our Director of Maintenance.

Uh-oh. I hope I don't get heck from everyone who was hoping to get the cockpit for themselves. :hide:
